Terms of Service

By creating an account, using the verify tool, installing the browser extension, or otherwise accessing Citelink, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Citelink is a verification platform. You submit a claim, URL, or social post; the system cross-references it against a curated evidence corpus and, when necessary, open web search, and returns a report showing supporting and refuting sources, omissions, and a confidence assessment. Citelink also publishes editorial fact-check articles, runs a browser extension that talks to the same API, and sends an optional email newsletter.

You need an account to use the verify tool, created via Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at citelink.news@protonmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Read this section before you rely on anything Citelink tells you.

A provenance status, confidence label, or verification report is a statement about what evidence Citelink located and how it relates to the claim you submitted. It is not a statement that the claim is true or false, and it is not a guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or currency. Evidence corpora go stale, sources conflict, and automated grounding can miss context a human reader would catch.

Citelink’s output is not professional, medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. Do not use it as the sole basis for a decision with real consequences. Verify anything important against primary sources and, where relevant, a qualified professional before acting on it.

You agree not to:

• Attempt to bypass, rotate credentials or headers around, or otherwise defeat rate limits or usage caps.
• Scrape, systematically extract, or resell Citelink’s data or reports without written permission.
• Access or attempt to access administrative endpoints or another user’s account.
• Use the service to generate or spread claims you know to be false, or to harass, defraud, or harm others.
• Interfere with the availability or integrity of the service.

The verify tool is capped at 25 requests per account per rolling 24-hour period and a site-wide cap of 500 requests per day across all accounts, plus a short-window per-account rate limit. These caps are enforceable terms, not soft guidance: requests beyond either cap are rejected, and repeated attempts to circumvent them are grounds for suspension or termination under Section 8.

Citelink owns the site, the verification engine, the editorial content it publishes, and the reports it generates from your submissions, except for the underlying claim text you submitted and any third-party material (source excerpts, citations) quoted within a report, which remain the property of their respective owners.

You retain ownership of the claim, URL, or post text you submit. By submitting it, you grant Citelink a license to process, store, and display that text and the report generated from it as part of operating the service. You must have the right to submit whatever you enter into the verify tool.

You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from Citelink’s editorial content or generated reports without permission, beyond normal quotation with attribution.

Reports and articles link to third-party sources we do not control and are not responsible for. Some outbound links, including product links on our Partners page, are Amazon affiliate links: Citelink may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through them at no extra cost to you. Ads shown through Google AdSense are served and controlled by Google; their presence is not a Citelink endorsement of the advertiser.

You can stop using Citelink at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, abusing rate limits, or activity that risks the service or other users, with or without notice depending on severity.

Citelink is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any verification result is accurate or complete.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citelink and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including reliance on a verification report or editorial content.

You agree to indemnify and hold Citelink and its operators harmless from any claim, liability, or expense arising from your use of the service, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes arising under these Terms will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, and the operating entity for Citelink is Hollow Prism LLC.

We may update these Terms as the product changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do; continuing to use Citelink after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
